What is Family Constellations:
‘Essentially we are looking at what happened in the past and how it is effecting us now’ Barbara Morgan
Family Constellations is a therapeutic modality founded by Bert Hellinger, who spent many years as a catholic priest and teacher among the Zulu community in South Africa. In Family Constellations we explore dynamics and patterns that run through families. The focus is primarily on trans-generational trauma: how the events that affected our ancestors continue to have an effect on us. Our ancestors often had to deal with massive traumas: war, hunger, early deaths, extreme poverty, and the attitudes and strategies they developed to deal with those events can show up in our lives, where they are no longer helpful.
These unconscious memories can lead us, and those around us, parents, siblings, children, to behave in ways that are puzzling to us. When we can make sense of ourselves and crucially those around us we can soften and find the love that underpins all families.
Systemic constellation sessions can help you gain insight into past burdens, enabling you to deal with difficulties in the present. This in turn helps to gain clarity on our future journey. Many of us concentrate on where it is we want to get to in our lives however in Family Constellations we pay more attention to where we are at this precise moment, and how we got there. By doing this we can be more informed about the path ahead.

About Ricí
I facilitate Family Constellations in Ireland and the UK, running regular workshops in An Seomra, a bright, sunny, secluded space looking out on a pretty garden at the back of my house in Dublin 6w. I offer one on one sessions in this private setting as well as online. In 2026 I will be offering my first 3 module introductory training.
With a background in Fine Art, I came to Family Constellations through Barbara Morgan whom I first met in 2012. In 2015 I embarked on an intense 6 years of training with her initially as a trainee, then as an apprentice. In May 2026 I will join Barbara as her assistant trainer.
I have also attended short trainings and workshops with Ty Francis, Stephan Hausner, Vivienne Broughton, Francesca Mason Boring and Bill Mannle.
My article ‘Beyond Ideas’ was published in issue 34 of the Knowing Field and a further article ‘Clean or Dirty Pain’ was published in issue 37.
I have facilitated workshops in Bristol, England alongside Nic Johnson since 2024.
I was a member of the core team of Constellations Camp Ireland, which runs 2 summer retreats blending the healing power of nature with the constellation work and nourishing supportive events, from 2022 to 2225 when I stepped back due to other commitments.
The changes I see in myself and my loved ones over those years is what makes me passionate about the value of this work.
What I Offer

Workshops
Grief Gatherings
One to One
What to expect at a workshop:
When we come together in a group we create a confidential space where we explore the hidden dynamics and loyalties of our family systems. At the workshop I invite people to bring their issue to the group and I ask them some questions about it. Together we create a human map of each issue or situation, using others in the group to represent the various aspects of the question. By doing this we remove the issue from inside our heads, where it can go round and round in unhelpful circles.
Through this new lens we can begin to see why we and those around us behave in ways that seem unhelpful or damaging.
Once we step into the representation that is requested of us we find that we feel the need to move or express in certain ways. Although we all have our own unique story, witnessing or representing in another person’s constellation allows us to see how connected we all are and how often our stories overlap. So that even if we don’t feel ready to bring our own issue to the workshop, we gain deep insights from the experience. It literally puts us in the shoes of others from where we can allow judgements to soften. This in turn helps to gain clarity about our future.
There is no obligation too do our own piece of work. Representing in other people’s issues or simply witnessing may give us all the clarity we need.

Online group workshops
While Family Constellations was conceived as group work, there are many reasons why some people might choose to work one to one. If you would prefer to work in this way I offer in person sessions at An Seomra, Dublin 6w, using small figures, visualisations, or floor markers as representatives. Whatever feels appropriate at the time.
I also offer two online options: Either we work as above but online or with a team of trained, experienced representatives. I use volunteer representatives from a pool of people who have trained in family constellations to offer their service to you.
For each of the above options I charge €90 for a 90 minute session.
I offer one and two day weekend workshops, working from An Seomra in Dublin 6w.
